HAPPY NEW YEAR...

Here we are (already)...this year has flown by and now we are moving into 2015.  I like the sounds of 2015 - don't ask me why - it just sounds exciting!

Making the same old resolutions I make every year....still hoping to stick to them.
You know - get more organized...clip coupons...write more on my blog and have lots of fun!
(I seem to "always" be able to fulfill the last resolution)!!

Off to the trade show in January and February - as always - hoping to find wonderful, new treasures to bring to the store.  It is fun to see all the new goodies the wholesalers display but it is hard to choose what "you" the customer wants.  I have the tendency to only purchase what I love...(so far that has worked)!!

Update on Raelyn - she is having her second extension surgery on January 7th and prayers for a quick recovery is always appreciated.  She is growing and doing so well - running instead of walking - nothing is going to stop this little one - she is so determined!  (well she is a Doyle after all)!!

Wishing everyone a great year ahead....healthy wishes for everyone...and lots of visits to The Cinnamon Stick.

...and here are all 10 of the grands on Christmas Eve..!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS...

Life is so busy these days - getting ready for the holiday...keeping the store filled with goodies and spending time with friends and family!

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and only the best for 2015.  We will start the year with a good cleaning of the store (of mica snow and glitter - oh yeah...and dust!)  and then brighten your days with lots of LOVE !!

Valentine workshops are being prepared and dates will be posted soon....trying to be more organized in 2015 with scheduling - I seem to have a BIG problem with that.  So let it be known my "first" New Year's Resolution is to be "more organized"!!   Hold me to it!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - and I will really try to post more here for those that don't follow on Facebook....XOXO

CANDLES IN THE WINDOWS..

The candles in the windows of our olde farmhouse have been shining brightly for over 30 years...that is when I first encountered them in the windows of homes in Lancaster County.  I HAD to have them too.  All 16 windows in our home have candlelight shining - and we are lucky enough to have 24" deep window sills for which to place them, and an electric outlet at each window (except in the bathrooms where Tony had to get a bit creative)!  They shine in the windows at the store too!

My dear friend Susan has posted on her blog a bit of history about candles in the windows back in colonial days....where and why this custom started....I like her version (being Irish and all that) !!    Visit her blog  at  http://thedutchrose.blogspot.com/

Before Christmas sales are going on at The Cinnamon Stick right now....(we do not do after Christmas sales)...we know you need these goodies now!!

Valentine decorations and workshops coming in January...we like to spread lots of LOVE !!

WOOL FEATHER TREE WORKSHOP...

Our Sleigh Ride Event was great in spite of some crappy rain on Saturday - lots of people braved the elements and came shopping.  Time is running out to get everything done and I am on super charge to finish up my own shopping, cleaning and decorating.  There are only 11 shopping days left at The Cinnamon Stick - see you soon!!!
This season has been lots of fun sharing it with a whole bunch of new customers (who have just discovered us)...we really appreciate their kind remarks and of course their business!  Our olde customers, I am pretty sure, know how we feel about them..but just in case they need a reminder...you are very much appreciated and we are grateful for your loyalty - you are what keeps us going and going and going!

Yesterday was the last workshop of the year and was a "Wool Feather Tree Workshop" given by Joanne McIllmurray.  Joanne has been giving this workshop for 6 years and learned how by taking a class in Vermont - the instructor gave her permission to give classes and Joanne revised the instructions to make it simple and easy for anyone to do.  They will resume next November if you are interested in making one... !!!  Here are some pictures of the "fun" these gals had.

Have a happy day.....Judy

THANKSGIVING WISHES..

Tony and I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope you get to spend it with family and friends.
We will celebrate at our son's home where "everyone" will gather and break bread together.  It will be "hectic".....with 10 grands running around - a boyfriend and a girlfriend (oh la la) will come later to celebrate (the grandchildren are growing up) !  In laws, outlaws - everyone is welcome.  Grateful for all the work Wendy puts into having all of us.

I am so thankful for all the blessings that have been bestowed on me and my family.  To be able to go to work where I get to play, socialize, and even make some $$$, is so special.  That I have friends that are loyal and honest...that don't believe the "stuff" that some jealousy puts out there.  Customers who are quick to compliment and return often.

Family that is close and enjoys being together.  Children who love us and include us in their daily lives.  Grandchildren who are happy and good.  For the blessings God has given us, I am humbled and grateful.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone - eat lots of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie....Diet on Friday!! (or better yet - just make it a New Year's Resolution...)!!    Blessings, Judy

How embarrassing....

Truly heart felt apologies - that's all I have to say about my lack of posting...Today that ends.

We started our "Jolly Olde Christmas" November 7th and are having a wonderful time...  restocking everyday with replacements and "new" merchandise!  Christmas Carols are softly playing - hot cocoa is going round and round in our now "famous" hot cocoa machine...and Christmas cookies are being "munched" on!  (sadly they are store bought - but I must admit they are really, really good)!

I love love love this time of year.  Everything is sparkling ( and so are most customers when they leave)!! (big smile)  We have a great mixture of pretty, prim and sophisticated treasures - always something for everyone.  We expect more handmade goodies by Black Friday and hope you will put us on your shopping travels.

In the past two weeks we had open house, Tony's arm operation, surprise birthday party for daughter-in-law Wendy and other commitments to many to list!  But all is back to normal....ahhhh wait...Next week is Thanksgiving - and Black Friday and the following weekend is our Annual Sleigh Ride thru Zionsville and Hereford. ( no rest but I like it that way) (with our new hours, for the first time I have Tuesday and Wednesday off before Thanksgiving -woohoo!!)

We hope you will stop in and enjoy some of our Christmas Spirit...we have enough to share!!
Trying not to post any pictures of goodies we are sold out of.... :(
These pictures are so random....you need to come see it all !!

HARVEST THYME...HALLOWEEN FUN...THANKSGIVING

The weather has turned to a true fall - chilly willy at night and early morning, then turning nice during the daytime hours...!!I MUST get out and harvest the herbs that certainly have given us a third cutting this season!

With Halloween fast approaching I see so many homes decorated - doesn't matter to me if they are the big inflated monsters and pumpkin houses, or the cornstalks attached to porch posts, mailboxes and lampposts....surrounded by lots of orange  pumpkins...it is ALL wonderfully beautiful !  October is going too fast for me...as I have to think of the next holiday....yes, coming too fast.

I am working on more Thanksgiving pillows (the first batch sold quickly), as I don't want this holiday to go forgotten by us.  We have wax turkeys - they look great - and some Pilgrim Sitters are on their way from Helen Voytilla.

And, here is our Christmas Open House flyer.   (click on picture to read)
and....our turkeys and pillows !

We also have the coolest brown bags (see in background) with a "Turkey" printed on front - great to give a small gift to the your "Thanksgiving" hostess and nice enough to frame !

Stop in the store soon as new goodies arrive all the time!

FNALLY...

I know I have been laxed in posting BUT - with the new computer everything went "haywire"....upgrades are NOT, in my opinion, worth the confusion.  Determination finally won and I can now log into my blog without changing the password every (yes every) single time!!
So by now all the "news" is old news so I might as well let you know what it happening now.  Our Halloween workshops are over and Christmas ones are in the planning stages....HOWEVER...we are so enjoying the fall and Halloween in the store.  We still have a nice display of fall and Halloween....adding some Thanksgiving as fast as we can!

Will post Christmas flyer as soon as it gets printed.  Stop in the store for the Cinnamon Thymes Christmas newsletter.  MY seasons are colliding but it is fun no matter which one I am working on.

Our last workshop was making "Afterlife Fairies".....it was fun and all are sold that were in the store....will work on more today and tomorrow !  Here's a peek at the workshop and fairies...

WORKSHOP - WITCH IN A JAR !!

Last evening a really cool group came to The Cinnamon Stick to "play and create" - and that is just what we did!!  Scissors were snipping, glitter was flying and sticky fingers were some of the fun happenings!

After a few instructions we started to put our jars together...not as easy a task as it sounds - however this group listened and did fantastic!  Really fantastic!  We finished in record time and had time leftover, so we decorated the "take home" sacks!  I think the girls had as much fun doing that as making the jar - lots of pictures to share.  One long picture explanation first - This is Mike and Maria who take many of our workshops.  (they are engaged and much, much fun)!  Maria has taken the Witch in a Jar workshop before so she made a "Mike" witch and Mike took a picture of Maria (they came to our last Witches Nite Out and I snapped a picture of Maria in full costume)  dressed from that night and made their own jars using these pictures. I am showing this picture first so you get an idea of how much fun and how much creativity goes on in our workshops!
(If you click on the pictures they enlarge to see more detail!!)

Mike and Maria

Waiting for the girls (and Mike) to come!

Everyone is working diligently..

Sticky fingers with orange glitter - what could be more fun!

Mary being very patient waiting for the glitter to dry on her witch!

Lori and Cas....being patient also...!!!

Busy, busy, busy !!

Ta-Da - Dana and Pam's captured witches!

April's witch looking very festive with her glittery dress!

Lori and Cas....perfect students!!

Prudy with her finished jar - looks great!

Michelle...owls whooing all over the place....fun night !

Decorated "take home" sacks...

...and more

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.....just a big thank you to the girls for putting up with me and my camera!!!
