Wishing you the best 2014 with health, wealth and much happiness.  It will be a trying year for us as we start the year with Raelyn's operation in February and getting her "straight"...a long process, but as a family we are so good together!!

I must admit I make resolutions every year and quickly dismiss them....EXCEPT - last year I kept a very important one to me - and I didn't break it.  (I did fall off the course a couple times but "quickly" recovered and got back on track).... I promised myself ----

" I would take the HIGH ROAD"

.. and I did....and will continue on that road cause I am of all things - "honorable".

...that I am a "wannabee" Flower shop owner!!  Yes, it's true...but sadly I realized one day I could NOT do it all.  So I sell herbs and gardeny things and that just has to do!  I am also a Candy Shoppe wannabee owner...yes, it's true!  So I made a sweet treat counter in the store - till the economy said "no more" it is our Gourmet Goodies and Sweet Treats counter!  I never really wanted to own a Gourmet Food Store----- a Kitchen Gadget shop (?)...oh YES!
But most of all I wanted to be an Antiques dealer and Country store owner - which I have done for over 29 years....however,  I never tire of trying new things and that is what this build up is all about.  I am "itching" to redo again....just not exactly sure what I want to do.  We are going to stop selling the fabric as it never really caught on...I will NOT stop selling our beautiful ribbons etc...they just might move into another room while I figure out what to do with the new space.  Any suggestions???  What would you like to see us "delve" into???  I might make the upstairs antique room into a "garden room only"....fresh herbs right now would make me smile!  (just thinking out loud)....
Goodbye cutting table....
Welcome new space - whatever you may turn out to be~~~

Last Friday evening we "finally" were able to have our workshop on making Christmas ornaments...honestly...this weather and my plans are not on the same page at all!
We had a good time..always fun with these gals and once the "complaining" was over (cones look easy to make but sometimes you feel all thumbs - smiling)!!  and the fingers got the "hang" of it - wonderful cone ornies were created!!  These cone star ornaments are so pretty - when completed...they even decorated the back!

..then onto the quick stuff....
Back is a double vintage Bingo card - olde brown paper has been glued to the front and pages from an olde book made a Christmas tree - add a red flannel star...distress everything and ta-da!!!
...the last project was - again - one section of the double Bingo card - tinsel trims and pipecleaners added along with vintage cutouts - every single one was unique - and so were the backs...(we like to make the back -even if you can't see it - as cool as the front of projects)!!
Using stamps, punches, glittery goodies...lots of really fun projects came to life!
 ...aren't they just the sweetest!!
We would love to have you join us for one of our workshops....always fun!!!

The snow is so pretty but it certainly puts a damper on my plans....had to cancel a Christmas workshop this evening - rescheduled for Friday, Dec. 13 but some girls can't make it due to prior commitments...Mother Nature is not being nice.  We have a few openings if anyone is interested check out December 1 post on here.

The store is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday so I am happy I am not missing customers today!

Decided the best thing to do (besides a ton of bookwork) was to make a big pot of potato soup.  Had everything I needed but needed to go to the parsley patch (against the back wall of the house-where it loves to grow) to see if the snow froze it yet.  Yippee...was able to cut a bunch for the soup...smells so good thru the whole house!
(Roads are looking pretty good - think I will send Tony out for some good bread)!!!

Will add parsley at the last 5 minutes of heating up the soup...(yes 1/4 lb of butter is a necessity!!)

Our next workshop will be Tuesday evening December 10 from 6 to 9 pm.  Tuesday seems to be a good night to create!!
We will be making some primitive ornaments to hang on your tree, pegged rack or anywhere your heart desires!

The cost is $12. all supplies included.
The paper tree is made on the back of a vintage Bingo Card - the brown paper is old and has a great aged look.
The Bingo Ornament will have other choices for the center and red, silver, green or gold tinsel garland to rap around.  The back also gets decorated with Christmas stamps and tags...!!
The paper cone wreath is boring till you get all those cones made...(smiling) and then it is fun putting it together and seeing how pretty it turns out!

Hope you can join us - please call or email and save your seat!

That is what it was all about last evening at our JOY BANNER workshop.  (wish I knew who to give credit for this fun design).  We changed it a bit but the idea I think came from Pinterest.  You have to understand I have NO time for Pinterest BUT have great friends and shopkeepers who will send me pictures of things they think I would love.  They are always right and always inspiring - so thank you friends for that!!
Now about last evening.
What a fun night...the rain, sleet and threat of snow did not stop anyone from coming and having some JOY!!  Here are some pictures...a couple of the gals were new to our workshops and never made a rosette or distressed anything - and they were "fabulous"...hmmmm maybe it was the instructor that was fabulous...(I am really smirking and rolling my eyes at me right now)!!
Cutting out those J's and Y's ( really a lot of cutting and gluing in our workshops...and oh...
 ..lots of glittering too!!!
You could hear a "pin" drop while everyone is concentrating....that doesn't last long though...(smiling)
..yep - quiet on this side of the room too! comes the chatter and laughter!
..except April...she was in deep thought making sure her rosettes were perfect!
...friends helping friends...!!!
..and a sweet newcomer - Shay - who did a great job!
This is our Attic Studio...and yes the roof slants but those bent necks are on tall girls....LOL!!! (I didn't make them stand there long)!!!

Lies may be powerful if believed - but the truth is so rewarding if you have morals and ethics....some do - some don't  - My Mom taught me both and for that I am thankful...!

....a big night of creating with a great bunch of girls.  Last evening we had our Winter Bottle Workshop!  Ten creative and fun gals attended and boy was the glitter flying...I think at least half a pound left the building  (and not all on the bottles) (big smile here)!!
I make up samples and kits for the girls to copy - but ALWAYS they come up with unique and fun ways to make the samples better.  AND, our youngest girl is always one of the most creative.  I know I don't have a picture with me today of what she came up with but I will add it later tonight.
Here are some pictures - but bear with me - NO ONE likes me to get the camera out and they hide...well they try too!!
...getting started

...cut, distress, glue

...glitter table

...happy workers one could hide this time!

...some of the finished bottles - so impressive!

...and some more!

We used vintage music pages for the wings and Kathy's copy had this perfect for her angel bottle!

It was a great open house last week, and we are truly grateful for everyone who came to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season with us!  We purchase from some of the most creative artists and I love displaying their craftsmanship at The Cinnamon Stick.  They always come up with "new and unique" art that helps us be different than the same old same old!  Thank you girls!!!

New goodies are still coming in - and I am working hard to keep the shelves and counters filled!   I love this time of the year as JOY is in the air and also one of our upcoming soon!

This Friday is our Winter Bottle Class and I will be sure to post pictures.  I am working on extra kits for our Keep Calm & Create Thursday workshops if you are interested visit our picturetrail (just click on the sidebar picture and it will take you there)!

Working on Christmas kits for our Keep Calm & Create Thursday workshops.....but Halloween keeps interfering.  So I had to make a BIG decision and......
today I will start saying "good-bye" to the Halloween goodies all over the store.
It will look sad for a few days I am sure....but Christmas decorating starts on Sunday (we are closed Sunday thru Wednesday next week  - Nov. 3-4-5-6)  Hoping all my "ideas" work!!!
Then it will be about giving you our best Christmas ever!

Today Raelyn goes to CHOP (Children's Hospital of Phila.) for a swallow study as she is not taking her bottle and still has some vomiting issues.  This is an issue Wendy has been dealing with everyday....scary but she is going to the BEST place to find out what is happening!  Prayers are always welcomed dear friends!
...thru it all she is forever smiling - a very happy little one!

I have a wonderful company that I have purchased Christmas themed bar soaps from -   I am ready to display them -  they come with this cardboard display piece that you have to put together!  MAGIC WORDS...put together.  It comes all folded in a long box.  I tried, and tried, and tried.  Couldn't figure it out- took it home and frustrated Tony too!  Directions made no sense whatsoever!  Yesterday I took it back to the store - and just so happened to have a husband and wife in from South Carolina.  While she was shopping upstairs her husband and I were chatting and he made the "mistake" of saying "I am not an engineer but I figured this out"....totally talking about something other than my display box - he had no idea what was coming at him.  YES, the light bulb went off and I told him if he could put my box together they could have the jar holder they were purchasing "free" !!  His wife joined in and after a bit of a struggle - he figured it out (with her schoolteacher help of course) and (even if he couldn't do it the jar holder was going to be free)!! This is it....looks simple doesn't was NOT!
He thought he would "harass" my hubby alittle bit and left this note...(smiling)!!  The couple were here for the very first friends!!!
This is the first of four bottles that I have "finally" finished for our Winter Bottle Workshop -
 ..and the back!
Scheduling workshop - Friday, November 16 - 6-9 pm.  More info to come!

***OPEN HOUSE "REKINDLING CHRISTMAS PAST" begins Thursday, November 7
We will be closed Sunday thru Wednesday - Nov. 3,4,5,6 to prepare!

I am so busy these past couple weeks with family birthdays, workshop planning and decorating for two seasons (in my head)...Pricing Christmas - filling the empty shelves with more Halloween and trying to keep somekind of "cleanliness" in the house and store is keeping me from "blogging"...I do write on my facebook everyday though.  I have so much to share -
My daughter is a second grade teacher and sent me this link to a project the second graders did for charity!!  Really awesome!  Click on link!  So proud of her!,AAAAtjTN6nE~,-a2CqhIxe_xBZPsm_cVs6UrYMr1J2Efl&bclid=1176382704001&bctid=2730538723001

Raelyn is doing well...issues here and there but doctors are working on it...she is so sweet and lovable.
Here she is watching her favorite television program - Yo Gabba Gabba  (yi yi yi)!!
Everyday boxes of Christmas are arriving and it is a bit overwhelming as I am enjoying our Halloween season so much!   We have a good assortment of Halloween treasures for you - just got these banners in - 15ft. long with a glittery spider - Keeps repeating Happy Halloween !
...and WOOHOO!!  We are now serving hot cocoa in our NEW fancy Hot Cocoa machine!!!  It is soooo delish!
Small blackboards are perfect for leaving a welcome message !
Lots more to tell - will write soon - I better get the meatballs cooked...XO

..the last day of September

This month seemed to just fly by...and tomorrow it's October!!  and then November....!!!  I am overwhelmed with all that has to be accomplished in the coming month and am wishing (hoping) the days to be fruitful!

Christmas workshops, redecorating, finding great new goodies....can get a bit mind-boggling at times.  I am so grateful for a wonderful network of friends who inspire me and keep me going (even if it is in circles) (smiling)!!
We are loving Halloween and thinking Christmas at The Cinnamon Stick (no wonder I am traveling in circles)!

Back to Halloween mode - even though yesterday I was "playing" with this -

as ...I must figure out what in the world I am going to make for our Halloween "get-together" with a group of "oh so creative" girls!!  I NEED a boost of creativity!!!
Off I go to open the store.....I am loving our new hours....
