(This should keep you chuckling for awhile)

A bar called Drummond's (in Mt Vernon, Texas ) began construction on an expansion of their building, hoping to "grow" their business.

In response, the local Southern Baptist Church started a campaign to block the bar from expanding - petitions, prayers, etc.

About a week before the bar's grand re-opening, a bolt of lightning struck the bar and burned it to the ground!

Afterward, the church folks were rather smug - bragging about "the power of prayer".

The angry bar owner eventually sued the church on grounds that the church... "Was ultimately responsible for the demise of his building, through direct actions or indirect means."

Of course, the church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection to the building's demise.

The judge read carefully through the plaintiff's complaint and the defendant's reply.

He then opened the hearing by saying:

"I don't know how I'm going to decide this, but it appears from the paperwork that what we have here is a bar owner who now believes in the power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that does not."

True story!!

Off to dinner celebrating our 45th Wedding from the kids ( I gotta get all dressed up!!)

In l995 I published a small paper booklet called "THE CINNAMON THYMES"...with some herbal hints and recipes - all quite simple but fun!  The best part of the booklet was the "illustrator" - Mary Lou Jenkins.  She captured the essence of exactly what I pictured in my mind and put it on paper !  We are now on our fourth printing.  It makes a great gift costing only $3.00, and together with an herb plant, makes a very nice and affordable present.  The pictures were hard to capture with the lack of my photography skills,  but you can get the idea.

Our "Herb Faire" begins Friday, May 4th and I have MUCH planning to do in order to get ready..."thyme" is just flying by so quickly!!  The "Rose" is the herb of the year 2012 - and we have recipes booklets from  Long Creek Farm with really fun recipes using "rose petals" - pesticide free of course!
This year we are selling our most popular herbs - downsizing a bit from past years - as most herbs are perennials and don't need to be replaced.   We will have a great selection of Scented Geraniums...some new varieties (for us) too~~ I get so excited this time of year when we can get outside and play in the dirt...(we have cotton ribbon for sale that is printed PLAY IN THE DIRT) !!  Be sure to mark your calendars to stop by the weekend of May 4th to get the best selection!!

The birds are chirping, a slight breeze is flowing thru our open windows and the scent of spring is in the air!  I love mornings like this - just chilly enough to keep your winter robe on when you take your coffee on the porch but warm enough to "take your coffee on the porch" !!
New goodies should be arriving today at the store....and I have some old boxes, lantern and a great old seeder to bring in.    I am working on "flower" pillows....I LOVE little pillows...they add color and a softness wherever you put them.
We have room for you at our second May Day Tote and Fairy Tags workshop - check out our website for more info or call the store.   Our workshops have always been fun "get togethers"...creativity seems to fill the attic studio and new friendships are formed !!  Come join us!!
...and look at our "feathered friends" that just flew in -

Created by Dianne Galloway from vintage fabric and old buttons for eyes....really unique!!

**MAY DAY TRADITION -May Day was celebrated by some early European settlers. In some parts of the United States, May Baskets are still made. These are small baskets usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someone's doorstep. The giver would ring the bell and run away. The person receiving the basket would try to catch the fleeing giver. If they caught the person, a kiss was to be exchanged. How much fun was that!!!

Hanging from the attic rafters....Catnip !!

....a Holy Day.  I remember when all the stores, banks, offices closed from 12 pm to 3 pm. on Good Friday...times change and not always for the better.

So what do you do when the catnip is growing "all over the place"...???  You harvest and make "Catnip Mice" - that special treat for all the "feline" friends you know!
I am harvesting the "catnip" or "catmint"  - whatever you choose to call it - and will be making up "Catnip Mice Kits" as soon as it is dry and ready to package.   Simple pattern and instructions with everything included will make it easy for anyone to make.  FUN!

NEW HERB BOOKS  - are in the store now!!  The Herb of 2012 is the "ROSE"...and we have these delightful little books with fun recipes -  yummmmmmy!!!

Today at 3 pm. we will be drawing the name for the winner of our Egg Tree Give-away!!  Who will be the lucky winner??  If you haven't signed up - hurry in!!!

March??? What happened to it?  Already April 4th and Easter is only 4 days away.   I love all the holidays because as a "family" we all get together - and everyone is invited.  In-laws, out-laws and everyone in between.  Preparing for a feast is fun too...planning what we will be serving, listening to the little one's stories of who found the most eggs and what great "treats" the Easter Bunny filled their baskets with.  We have Easter dinner at my daughters as our home is waaaay too small to handle the "crowd" our family has become!    Blessed.
I have my Easter gifts all wrapped and ready to take with me - if you haven't done so yet, The Cinnamon Stick is the place to come...something for everyone in every price range...and very special too!!
From vintage Easter bonnets -
...and all kinds of Easter eggs!!
Be sure to sign up to "win" our Egg tree Give-away when you visit....See you soon...!!

So exciting....Our garden fairies have returned - alittle earlier than usual and it delights me that they make their summer homes in the gardens at The Cinnamon Stick!!  No - I haven't ever seen a "fairy" but they do leave little "telltale" signs around the store when they are checking it out.
Like this -
 ..and this
and this !!  A trail of lavender and sparkles!
Once I know they are settled in I will put a "fairy sack" out each evening when I leave the store, and in the morning I might find it filled with "Fairy Dust" to share with you!!  We have the sweetest fairies!!

Doesn't this make you anxious to "dress up" the garden areas at your home....still a bit too chilly here but very soon "garden treasures" will fill the porches with goodies for sale!

....and goodies were found...toes are are mud packed...but back of the van was almost full.  It was great to connect with dealers (selling and buying) that we haven't seen for awhile.  Now to get Tony to get it all cleaned up and ready for the store!   We stopped by a silent auction and put a couple bids in too....hoping for the "high" bid!!
We had a nice Saturday at the store...met some really nice "new" customers and some old favorites stopped in. (they weren't old in age!! LOL!!)
One of our young "old" favorites brought news that she was going to open a store....Pippy & Peanut ...I am so excited for her.  As soon as it opens, and I get more info I will tell you all about it!!
Off to scrape off the mud, empty the van and get to the store...Hope to you see today!!

ALMOST forgot...Everything is free today!!
