That is how I think about the workshops we have...I have so much fun creating with those that take the class!
Last night was super fun - we made an Easter Bookcover wall hanging!  There were MANY steps to doing this and everyone -  EVERYONE - did such a great job.  New techniques were learned and they even taught me a thing or two on how to do something easier...(Thanks Michelle)!!  MICHELLE was our "heroine" as it was 80 degrees yesterday - the Attic Studio was warm to say the least (air conditioner in March??? who would have thought)!!  Thank goodness we had a fan - but the heroine part came cause we had a wasp flying around and she got it...and then another ...and then another....!! (also 2 stink bugs but we left them alone....ewwww)!!
Sharing some pictures of our fun!!
The Sample....
Mom and Daughter - Cathy and Ciana
Patti - and Sara
Grace and Joan...
EVERYONE!!   This picture says it all....
Now to finish those 2000 little gifts for the Berks County "BEST KEPT SECRET" Tour and then make plans for our next workshop!!!

,,,have you any wool??  Of course we have pieces of wool for sale in our Threadgoods Room....perfect for making  penny rugs! Twenty-five cents to One Dollar!!  Some from my stash of 30 years and others from pieces of wool I purchase locally - most is not 100% wool but great for making woolies!!
We even have the "wool bearers" for these -

The store is "blooming" with lots of spring flowers -
...and a new old shoe rack - Tony took the pegs racks off (most were broken) and made one row of pegs - made shelves from old wood found in Lancaster - and put together this wonderful shelf unit.  The wheels all work perfectly and it can be rolled here and there quite easily.  What a great addition to your sewing room - you can reach your supplies from either side...move it out of the way...spin it around - perfect!! I should keep this piece !!!  It is for SALE - so come and get it!!
We have our Easter Bookcover Workshop this looking forward to spending time creating with a group of really creative gals (and guy)!!  Strawberry Shortcake is on the menu......yummy!!!

...the Bunny Grass!!  It is the perfect time this week to come in and purchase your Bunny Grass Seeds...if you plant it this weekend you will have a "unique" centerpiece for your Easter table!   Going to give these pots a "haircut" today and see if they will "resprout" for my table.   (they look so funny)!!
Joanne brought us some new Easter rug hooked goodies on Sunday -  (2 bunnies sold before she left) is another sweet little guy and some hooked eggs...these look sooooo much better in person...with all the sunshine I just couldn't get a picture of the "true" colors!

The egg background is a blue/brown wool and the other is a great red ware color...if you are interested I will try to get better pictures today.

Sherri's wool felted sheep....she has sewn, stuffed (nicely) and painted the bodies, hand stitched facial features and then needle-felted the true sheep's wool onto the body....a lot of work but so worth the outcome!  The baby lamb is made of wool and comes in black too! (there is also a large "black" sheep)
Still working on those "2000" little gifts for the Berks County bags I still need (1200 more) will arrive and the other "ingredients" not until about cutting it close!!

...that is the "song" playing in my "head" today....It is so warm outside (I am loving it but a tad bit worried what summer will be like)!!   Flowers are blooming, the flowering trees are looking "majestic" and the woods are starting to turn green (well the weeds are turning green).  I am expecting to see traces of "fairy dust" in the store when we reopen on Wednesday!!  (I do love my fairies)!!
Easter is only a little over two weeks away and we still have a great supply of Easter decorations and gifts...lots of rabbits that you will want to keep out all spring and summer~they look so cool in a garden vignette!
Tony has been working on a batch of new "old" stuff too!  We have some wonderful old jars in the store now...and I have labels for sale that you can attach that can be easily washed off if you tire or want to change)...We aim to please!!
I didn't get any pictures, but Joanne brought us new rug hooked bunnies and Easter eggs that you HAVE to stop in an see...she is one of the best "hookers" and her color combinations are unique!
Well...I am off to work on the 2000 little gifts for the BEST KEPT SECRET TOUR OF BERKS COUNTY!!

Trilby Blue Doyle - 8 months old the first day of SPRING!

Born Judith Lee Dugan and married Anthony Aloysius Doyle.... had two Irish babies...Shannon and Tad...and YES lots of "shenanigans" went on in our house while they were growing up.   Tad married Wendy Galloway and they have 5 Irish babies (can you even imagine the "shenanigans" going on in that home)!!  Shannon married Jeff Lotz and although he is only part Irish her 4 sons have lots of "Irish" in don't even want to hear the stories!!!  Never a dull moment in this Irish girls life....So my Irish blessing to you -
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be ever at your back. . .
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

Be kind to those that meet you as you rise, you may pass them again as you fall.
Who gossips with you will gossip of you!!!

My little nephews trap to catch a Leprechaun!!  Too cute!!

WOW...what a wonderful gift this week is with temps in the high 60's and 70's !!  Just makes you want to take day trips everywhere - hope The Cinnamon Stick is on your list!  We certainly have lots of spring and Easter for you to have the "most unique" home on the block.  Also, wonderful gift ideas for family and friends.
Spring flowers have sprouted and bloomed everywhere I look, and my chives... they are ready to be cut.  Makes me hungry for our Radish & Chive's the recipe in case it makes you hungry too...!!!

8 oz. cream cheese -softened
1 T. butter softened (a must!)
1 c. radishes -chopped fine
1/'2 c. fresh chives - cut
1/2 t. salt
Dry radishes with paper towel,  cream cheese and butter together - add radishes and chives - add salt and mix well - Chill.   Serve with crackers, party bread, veggies - DELISH!!
This is always a favorite when I serve it at home or at the store.   I use Pepperidge Farm Butterfly crackers - and add a sprig of fresh chives when serving!

The rabbits keep "multiplying" and I am wondering what is going on in the store when I am not there....see for yourself !!

There are many more....they just keep coming and coming!!!

It is sprinkling today, but it is suppose to be in the 70's temp who cares!!  A "spring" rain smells so good - gives a good cleansing to everything outside.  The sweet daffodils are smiling, as are the crocus' and johnny-jump-ups that are popping up all over. isn't quite spring yet.... this week is going to be a real "teaser" here in PA - mid to high 60's all week!  Hey - I'll take it with a smile :)
Dianne brought us the sweetest little bunnies last week and two rather big rabbits - these guys are perfect for your spring/summer decorating.  I will take pictures tomorrow.  The store looks so pretty all dressed for spring and Easter!
Thursday we will be closing at 4 pm - as we have been selected to take part in the Berks County 'BEST KEPT SECRET TOUR" - Melissa Nordoff  has been conducting these tours in Lancaster County for the past few years and they have been so successful that she decided to do one for Berks County.  We will find all the information at a meeting on Thursday - looks like it is going to be a great way to start the summer...tour is June 15 - 30.  I'll bombard you with info as soon as I know all the details.
I am off to enjoy this beautiful day -

Tony planted the flower pots with the Bunny Grass.....but I think he "buried" the seeds a bit too much !!  FINALLY, however, they have "sprouted" and soon will be ready to hide some eggs!  (the other pot is just starting to peek thru)!!  Bunny Grass seeds are available at the store packaged with instructions!

Yesterday, with the beautiful "spring like" weather we had, I cleaned the "outhouse" !  What a mess - as I had shoved  bittersweet vines and Christmas greens in there!  It is nice and clean now and ready for spring plants and garden treasures.   (do I sound anxious??)
Not so sunny here today - I am really in need of some "Vitamin D"!!!

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

(we can thank Dianne for them)!!
Joanne has replaced the "chicks on a bobbin" that sold last week and another tall bunny...too sweet!
Painted and lightly covered with wax - these egg picks add something very special to a bouquet of flowers!
