Off on a small but much needed vacation....Ocean City, NJ here we come....all 14 and 8/9's  of us!!   Looking forward to having "nothing" to do but have FUN !!   No computers - (although the hotel has wireless in each room...hmmmmm - NOPE - no computers !!)
I am sure there will be "tales" to tell when I return (big smile)....keep shining sunshine!!!

ps...a highlight will be visiting a fellow friend and shopkeeper in Cape May Courthouse - Susan who owns THE DUTCH ROSE...we met on a private retail blog and I am anxious to give her a "hug" !!!

So much to do, so little time - is just how I have been feeling lately.  I have a "bum" knee - have no clue what I did but it certainly makes life a bit painful and boy has it slowed me down.  Especially with vacation in a few short days - like I said "so much to do, so little time" !!
I have been seriously thinking of Halloween though...(not rushing life ..just having fun) !!  I am working on a picture trail with items for sale -  seasonal items that come and go in the store.   First off is Halloween of course.,..(big smile) - I will post the site when I have it up and running.  Some very "unique" offerings.

On the store front...our "Loyalty Program" is getting great reviews from the customers who have signed up...I am very excited that I found out about this program cause it really gives me a chance to "thank" our loyal I said - if not for you I would be greeting people at Walmart (if they would hire me) !!!

Tony has "potted" some herbs in larger pots - completely ready to decorate your porch, deck or patio - and ready to take inside when summer is over to enjoy all year long.   Bringing herbs inside is always "iffy" but when it "works" what a joy to cut a few sprigs to add to your meal.

Enjoy your day - looks like rain here (and much needed) !!

Just getting to tell of my fun Friday at the store....first - the new issues of Somerset Life arrived....great issue with lots of good projects and ideas!
Sweet Annie couldn't wait for the end of the day so she could browse through the new issue!
Another box arrived with all our Country Home Creations Dips and Spreads.  We haven't carried these for awhile but brought them back by "polite customer demand" !!  I do have to admit that these are the "best on the market" !!

Pretty posies  in an old ink bottle - Tony found 10 of these old bottles in varying shapes and sizes...really fun to fill with herbs and flowers and put in a unsuspected spot!
AND THE BEST SURPRISE OF THE DAY !!!  Connie and Paul paid us a visit from Connecticut!!   We had a wonderful visit with real "hugs" !!!  These two are one of the sweetest, happiest couples I know!!  Love you guys!!
Now you know why I had such a fun Friday....Saturday was all work - (and alittle bit of play)...
Happy Father's Day to all the men in our lives..Sadly my father passed many years ago - before he got to see the wonderful husband and father I married...and the bestest Grandpop - I have a son who is a wonderful father to his 2 boys and two girls (soon to be three girls) and a son-in-law who is also a wonderful father to his four boys!!  I am blessed!!

YouTube - Carrie Underwood with Vince Gill How Great thou Art - 720P HD - Standing Ovation!

Yesterday we had our second workshop making the Fairy Dust Sachets - the girls never cease to amaze me with their creativity - these are simple projects that are fun choosing the right paper and fairies and embellishments!   Carol and Wanda did not disappoint - both had a fun time sharing ideas .  Although we only had two gals come it was a great workshop.  (they hate getting their pics taken...LOL!!)

Also our new "Loyalty Frequent Shopper" program has started....stop in to see what it is all about!!

Thursday, June 16, 2011

How did that happen...???  What happen to Wednesday, Tuesday, Monday??  Geesch....days must be flying by cause I am having so much fun playing with the fairies...redoing the porches...and rearranging the store.
Our "NEW" Loyalty Shopper program has started - stop in the store for all the details - "our thank you to all our customers" - if not for you I would be greeting Walmart customers!! (big smile)!!
New ribbon is arriving today...can't wait - saw an idea at the trade show and thought "I can do that" !!  AND, so can you - the ribbon will be available for you to do yourself or you can purchase this "idea" already finished...come check it out!!
Also available will be Fairy Dust Sachet Kits - in our Make-Do Room!!  Kit contains everything you need to make "3" Fairy Dust Sachets plus a bonus pattern and embellishments to make "3" gift card envelopes !

Not sure why or maybe it was just me....but the Trade Show was the best it has been in a few years...We are going to have the bestest fall/Halloween and Christmas goodies at THE CINNAMON STICK !!  Lots of handmades and wonderfully unique accessories to go with them.  I am excited !!
Right now though, the store is celebrating summer and garden thyme!  This week our hand-embroidered small stitcheries are on sale.  We have 6 left in three different styles - now $18. (not so good pictures attached) (sad face) - and on Thursday we will have another Fairy Dust Sachet workshop - great fun last week!  It should be nice and "cool" in the workshop this week also. (happy face) !!
This week I hope to "launch" a new store "Loyalty" shopper program... wonderful boutique in New York  does this and has shared it with me.   You don't have to carry cards around to be punched or anything....we will do all the work!!!

Off to get the day started...sun shining 60 degrees, birds are singing  - perfect summer morning!

Saturday, June 11, 2011

This morning it is thundering and lightning, and sprinkling us with a MUCH needed rain.  Certainly looks like a Halloween mischief night at 7 am. this morning.   Hmmmm...maybe because my mind is on what arrived at the store yesterday -
We use to sell lots of fabric but stopped when the store next to us moved in.   With our new "Make-Do" room we have decided to sell more "specialty" fabrics - some unique designs that we sell by the yard.   Great for crafters and "make it myself" gals!  Fall and Halloween trims will be arriving soon - what is unique about our Make-Do room is you can purchase items in just the amount you need - ribbons, trims, tinsel trims, beading - and we are open to suggestions!  It is NEVER too early to think "Halloween" !!
~~Our Herb Plant Sale is going on NOW - there is still a nice variety of herbs for you to purchase~~

I spent a great afternoon with Michelle and her daughter Katie - they came to the workshop to make the Fairy Dust Sachets.  It was hot (98 degrees outside)...had the air conditioner on all night and a fan on full speed, but by 3 pm the sun had just baked the Attic Studio.  No complaints though when you are having fun creating.  I am hoping the pics of all the creativity will bring more gals next Thursday.   It took about 3 hours for them to make 3 Fairy Dust packets and 3 Pocket Card envelopes. (the bonus pattern)!  Wasn't sure how long this workshop would take as when I make them I do everything in between customers and phones ringing!  IT WAS FUN  - check out the pictures!!!

Michelle making this....

..little rosette for the Pocket Card envelope.

 TA-DA !!!!
Both Mother and Daughter chose different fairies and paper - it was fun to see what they visioned!! (there are alot to choose from)
Some cold watermelon, popcorn and raspberry iced tea helped with the "heat" !!!  Hope to see you next Thursday - it has to be cooler!!!!

Thursday, June 9, 2011

Whew this weather goes from one extreme to another.....Hoping the Attic Studio is cooling off (left air conditioner on all night ) as it ws a "tad" stuffy up there yesterday while I was preparing for our FAIRY DUST SACHET workshop today.  Do stop by - this is a fun project! (click on picturetrail or call for info)

This coming week I go to "wholesale market" to pick out goodies for you - Halloween and Christmas - hmmmmm - feels like I just "re did" the store for both these holidays...time stands still for no man - seems like I heard that before! (big smile)

HERB PLANT SALE is going on now....All plants are $1.50 except Rosemary and Lavender which are $2.00 a plant.   The plants are ready for your herb garden so stock up NOW before my garden becomes a "monster" herb garden.  The plants are healthy and growing like weeds in their little pots - start you own little "Fairy Garden" in an old agate pot, basket or box (all available for sale at the store) !!!

Stay cool my friends.....

Strawberry thyme - "berries" on vintage bobbins !

...there isn't anything "new" to do!!!  Something POPS up - I have been working on making "FAIRY DUST SACHETS" for sale in the store and thought it would be fun to offer a workshop in making them for yourself.  Neat little thank-you and remembrance sachets to give to someone special.

True Story - when I was making these at my counter (where there is always something going on and messes being made) - a gentleman browsing - asked what I was making.  I showed him and he put on a big smile...and said his wife believed in fairies.  He went on to tell me his wife had passed on.  Boldly, I gave him a packet and told him next time he visited her to sprinkle it all around.  It was like a lot of memories were passing before his eyes - they were twinkling - and all his "aches and pains went away for awhile!!  My point....a simple act of kindness doesn't cost much but sometimes brings big rewards.

That got me thinking I should offer a workshop in making these simple little gifts - so this Thursday, June 9th and next Thursday, June 16th we are opening our Attic Studio from 12pm to 4pm for anyone who might want to come create.    Go to     - click on Class Schedule for all the details!

New to the store, and VERY new to me, is a stationary line that I fell in love with.  Positively Green by Compendium.  Straying from our strictly "country" cards ( there's plenty of them in stock as always)..these cards are more "inspirational".  Simple phrases that touch the heart.  Most are "Birthday Wishes" but there are also "Encouragement", "Appreciation" and "Love and Friendship".  Check out the new line next time you are shopping with us.  We also added Journals to this collection.  There are many other items this company has for sale and we will enlist your help in letting us know what you think before we add to it.
Here's a peek ~~$2.95

 Journals ~~$5.95

COULDN'T RESIST.....(big grin) !!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better even though I have it!!Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -

Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,
Put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
And notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back
On the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think,
Since I'm going to be near the mailbox
When I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table,
And see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
So I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks,
But first I need to push the Pepsi aside
So that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Pepsi is getting warm,
And I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
A vase of flowers on the counter
Catches my eye--they need water.
I put the Pepsi on the counter and
Discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
But first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
Fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
But I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
So I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
But first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers,
But quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table,
Get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
The car isn't washed
The bills aren't paid
There is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
The flowers don't have enough water,
There is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,I can't find my glasses,
And I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day,
And I'm really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem,
And I'll try to get some help for it,
But first I'll check my e-mail....

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!
(thank you Cathie this made my day - !!!)

The past two days have been "heavenly" with the weather...sunshine and breezes (well maybe I should say windy) just perfect "picnic" weather.  I think today I will take my lawn chair and sit on the front porch and eat my lunch.
This old trunk from Germany just came into the has a really good color and even better price...

...with secret compartments...(smile)
..also - perfect for your picnic...two yellow McCoy bowls - what a pretty tablescape they will make filled with salad or fruit!
Hope your day is as beautiful as it is here....heck...let's go for the whole weekend!!!

I always think of myself as "I can do anything"...(or at least I am willing to try) HOWEVER...flower arranging is not my thing.   I just can't learn "enough is enough" !!  Same with putting together wreaths...I say outloud  -SIMPLIFY-SIMPLIFY-SIMPLIFY...but it usually does not work.
(another BIG HOWEVER)....this is the arrangement from the "roadside" that I gathered yesterday - sadly the wild roses had gone beyond their peak so I had to let them there to turn into the bright red wild rosehips after the first frost.  Honeysuckle and daisies and some onion grass make up this arrangement in this old jar -

made very easily because of the "flower frog jar lids" that we are selling -

Is this "Parasol" too sweet !!  One of my finds on our Memorial Day jaunt - there is a tiny tear here and there but nothing too noticeable - great decoration for a girl's room - or an all around fun accessory for anywhere in your home.

Women are Angels. And when someone breaks our wings....

We simply continue to fly ........ on a broomstick.....
We are flexible like that.

...what do you have planned for me this month???
As you drive down the backroads where I live, the scents of honeysuckle and wild roses fill the air with a very heady scent that is amazing!   This morning I will pick a bouquet of both of these (and some lemon balm) to add yet ANOTHER scent to the store.
I am anxious to go to the store this morning as I haven't been there since Sunday - I have some new goodies to price and display and will have to move things around to fit them in.   I like doing that though, so the day should be fun.  More fun if we are busy!!!
My "Fairy Garden" is just starting to fill in but I will have to replace the rosemary  - and the golden oregano doesn't seem to want to florish...time to redo.    Hopefully it will look like the picture on the sidebar soon.
Enjoy the first day of June....
